Selina Te Hira

Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Stretch & Conditioning

Selina has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Dance Degree from The Academy of Music and Performing Arts. She studied composition, body science, dance history and trained in genres such as Hiphop, commercial Jazz, Musical theatre, Ballet, Contemporary and Latin. Selina was then offered a place in the contemporary fusion company "Duti Dance Company" which creates show pieces and concept film. At Duti Dance Company, she trains with Teachers such as Matthew Miyzaed, Niel whittika, Rod Saleco amongst many others. 

 

Having directed worshops for The Academy of Music and Performing Arts Junior Dance School, The Lab Performing arts, Joanne Williams Dance School and Studio 17 Performing Arts. She has taught hip hop, contemporary, jazz and commercial classes. This has given her experience, confidence and knowledge on what is required to teach various genres.

 

Selina is continuously learning and training to keep herself current and relevant in the dance industry. She takes multiple open classes with Sydney's most prestigious choreographers and teachers. Selina is always open to learning new styles of dance and movement. She is also interested in Latin American dance styles and exploring different cultures, their dances and approach to body movements. 

 

Selina's personality adds a fresh young vibe to the classes she teaches. Whenever she embarks on a new project, her knowledge and experience brings value and enjoyment to her classes, workshops and collaborations. 

 

Always making classes educational, Selina motivates students to learn basics dance steps, body movement, improvisation, combinations  and choreography. She endeavours to gives positive feedback and makes her classes enjoyable, age appropriate and fun.
