Claire Thomson is a Sydney based dancer, choreographer, performer and dance teacher.
Claire graduated with a Bachelor of Dance at Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) in 2019 under the directorship Adele Hyland. At AMPA Claire majored in Contemporary and directed her first professional full-length work in 2019 at NIDA Playhouse Theatre, titled ‘Sixth Sense’, a contemporary dance work exploring Proprioception in the human condition. In the same year, she was accepted into Ev & Bow and Dance Makers Collective Inc. youth company ‘Future Makers’ to broaden her training and knowledge in Contemporary dance.
Notably, she was selected into HSC Callback 2017 in Core Performance and received nominations in all three sections: Core Performance, Core Composition and Major Performance.
Claire was a part of the Brigidine College St Ives eisteddfod group from 2012-2017, which won numerous placements and was selected into Sydney Eisteddfod (Dance of Champions) as a Finalist, winning ‘People’s Choice’ in 2013. Claire’s had 10 years of training experience in various styles including jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip Hop, musical theatre, tap, acrobatics and silks at Plie Groove n’ Shuffle and Synergy Performance Studios.
Claire joined Starfish Kids Talent Agency and was promoted in Advertisements including ‘Listerine For Kids’ and Television Series including ‘Double Take’ in 2011.
In 2011, Claire was invited to perform in the Musical Theatre ensemble for the Professional Production ‘Candy Man’ starring Wayne Kermond at Sydney Lyric Theatre.
Claire was recently accepted into an independent arts collective One Dance Collective and is excited to start mid-year 2021. She is expanding her knowledge through teaching dance students in Northern Beaches and North Shore Dance studios, whereby Claire instils a passion for helping each student reach their full potential and believe in their own unique capabilities, no matter what level or experience they are at.
